Police Report: November 21-23

Friday November 21:

3200 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 7:10 pm officers stopped a man who was seen urinating on the wall of the police station. The man was also found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana. He was arrested and charged with both crimes and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

Saturday November 22:

3400 block of Newton Street: At about 12:30 am officers responded for the report of a woman screaming and being assaulted. When the officers arrived they detained an individual for investigation. As they were questioning him another man began yelling obscenities at the officers from his residence. He came out of his home, with his mother, and continued to berate the officers. The officers instructed the man to go back into his residence and cease interfering with their investigation. The man refused to go back inside and instead approached the officers in an aggressive manner and became more loud and disorderly. The man was advised a final time to either return to his residence or be arrested for disorderly conduct. He refused the officers advice and when he was told he was under arrest he resisted and began to fight the officers. After a brief struggle the officers were able to get him under control and he was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. He was delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

3200 block of Chillum Road: At about 2:45 pm officers responded for the report of a stolen mattress. The victim told the officers that someone stole her mattress from the hallway of her apartment building. A witness told the officers that he witnessed the theft and was able to point out one of the two individuals responsible. That individual was apprehended and charged with the theft. The second individual the witness described was able to get away with the mattress before police arrived. A canvass of the area failed to locate the second individual

Chillum Road at Buchanan Street: At about 10:55 pm officers responded for the report of a citizen robbery. The victim told the officers that he was punched and kicked to the ground by four black males. One the victim was on the ground the perpetrators stole his cell phone and wallet. The victim was unable to provide a description of his attackers. He received a laceration to his jaw in the attack and was treated for the injury at the scene by fire/rescue personnel. MRPD officers along with Prince George's County Police canvassed the area for the perpetrators with negative results.

Sunday November 23:

3200 block of Queens Chapel Road: At about 1:30 am officers stopped a vehicle for traffic violations. The officers conducted a wanted check on the driver which revealed that he was wanted on an open arrest warrant through Prince George's Sheriffs Office for failure to appear on a DUI charge. The driver was arrested on the open warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville without incident.

Community Shredding Day

Please mark you calendars for Saturday July 18th, 2009 for community shredding day. Priority One Shredding of Bowie, Maryland will provide free personal shredding services and secure document destruction from 8 am until 11am at the Bunker Hill Fire Station. Priority One Shredding is a leading provider of personal and business secure document destruction. Residents are welcome to watch their documents being destroyed, and once the shredding process is completed, the remains are locked in the mobile destruction unit until the paper is recycled. Priority One will also provide residents with a variety of identity theft prevention information free of charge. If you miss the community shredding day on July 18th, be sure to bring your bulk documents to National Night Out. Priority One will be onsite from 6-9 pm providing shredding services to residents again, free of charge .
