Police Report: July 3-5

Friday July 3rd:

3300 block of Buchanan Street: At about 1:25 am MRPD officers along with Queenstown private security officers stopped three suspicious individuals who were suspected of casing several vehicles in a parking lot. The three were interviewed with each giving a different reason for being in the area. A pat down for officer safety revealed that two of the individuals were in possession of screw drivers. None of the individuals were local residents nor did they have identification. An NCIC check revealed that one of them had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for motor vehicle theft. That individual was arrested on the open warrant. He was also charged with trespassing and possession of burglary tools as were the other two. All were delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville without further incident.

3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 7:20 am officers on patrol observed an individual drinking from an open container of an alcoholic beverage. She was issued a criminal citation for the violation and sent on her way.

2800 block of Taylor Street: At about 9:15 am officers observed an individual driving a motor vehicle who they knew had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for felony theft. The vehicle was stopped and the individual was arrested without incident. He was delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville without further incident. The vehicle was impounded for safekeeping.

2300 block of Varnum Street: At about 11:45 pm officers on patrol observed an individual drinking from an open container of an alcoholic beverage. He was issued a criminal citation for the violation and sent on his way.

Saturday July 4th:

2500 block of Arundel Road: At about 1:30 am officers responded for the report of a citizen armed robbery. The victim told the officers that she as she was getting out of her vehicle a tall, slender black male wearing all black pointed a small hand gun at her and demanded her purse. As she gave him her purse, the suspect also demanded her PIN and she gave it to him. The suspect then fled the scene in an unknown direction. The victim was not harmed during the robbery and a canvass of the area for the suspect proved negative.

3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 12:20 pm officers responded for the report of a disorderly female who was throwing merchandise off of display. The officers arrived and attempted to calm her down but she only became more irritated and began to yell and scream obscenities at the officers and bystanders. The officers were forced to take her into custody and charge her with destruction of property, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. She was delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

4600 block of 25th Street: At about 7 pm officers took a report of a stolen 2005 Chrysler Sebring with Maryland tags 9EYZ01. The victim/owner told the officers that she came home from vacation to find her car had been stolen.

2400 block of Chillum Road: At about 9 pm officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver had an open warrant through the Prince George's County Sheriff's Office for trespassing. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC without further incident.

One Municipal Place: At about 2:30 pm officers on patrol observed an individual drinking from an open container of an alcoholic beverage. He was issued a criminal citation for the violation and sent on his way.

Sunday July 5th:

3300 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 8:15 pm officers stopped an individual for a field interview. During the interview the officers discovered that the individual was in possession of several small plastic baggies which are used to package CDS. He was issued a criminal citation for possession of CDS paraphernalia and sent on his way without further incident.

3200 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 1 am power shift officers attempted to stop and interview a suspicious individual known to them from previous encounters to be involved in CDS transactions. The subject fled on foot and attempted to resist the officers. A TASER was deployed and immediately stopped the individual without further confrontation. He was found to be in possession of the narcotic PCP. He was arrested and charged with possession of a CDS and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville without further incident.

Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description). A check of the area for the stolen car proved negative and a lookout for it was gi
