Police Report: September 2

4200 block of 30th Street: At about 8:15 a.m. officers took a report of a residential burglary. The victim told the officers that while she was in the shower someone entered her home and stole her purse containing a cell phone, credit cards and other miscellaneous items. She said that she saw the suspect leaving her residence but by the time she got dressed to try and catch up with him he was gone.

4600 block of 29th Street: At about 12 p.m. officers took a report of a residential burglary. The victim told the officers that someone entered her apartment sometime between 9 a.m. and noon and stole her flat screen television. There were no signs of forced entry into the apartment. While investigating this burglary in light of several others that have occurred in the area officers were able to develop a possible suspect. The suspect, a juvenile, was located and taken into custody for questioning. During questioning he confessed to the burglary and gave information as to where the stolen TV was located. The officers charged the juvenile with burglary via a juvenile court petition and he was released to his parents. The TV was recovered and returned to the victim.

4200 block of 29th Street: At about 6 p.m. officers took a report of a residential burglary. The victim told the officers that while she was outside gardening she received a phone call from her credit card company questioning several high dollar charges to her credit card that had occurred during the day. She went inside to retrieve her purse and discovered that it was missing from the table just inside the front door where she remembered leaving it. There were no signs of forced entry into the house and there was no additional evidence or witnesses found.

3200 block of Queens Chapel Road: At about 11 p.m. officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver was in possession of marijuana. He was arrested, charged with CDS possession and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

At about 9 a.m. officers investigating the seven burglaries that have occurred in the City during the month of August obtained the description of a possible suspect in the crimes. After about a 3-hour search the individual was located on 29th Street and detained for questioning. During questioning he confessed to committing or participating in several of the recent burglaries. It was during the questioning of this individual that officers were able to identify and charge the juvenile for the burglary in the 4600 block of 29th Street described above. The individual was formally charged with the burglaries that occurred in the 4100 block of 29th Street on August 28th and in the 4600 block of 29th Street on August 30th. Additional charges may be forthcoming and the investigation is continuing.

Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description). A check of the area for the stolen car proved negative and a lookout for it was gi
