Police Report: April 15-16

April 15th:

4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP Station): At about 8:30 am officers took a report of an attempt theft from auto. The victim told the officers that she saw a man try and open her car door. When she confronted him he immediately got into a black Lexus with Maryland vanity tags MRSALD and fled the area. . Further investigation revealed that the Lexus had been reported stolen from an address in Prince George’s County and had been recently involved in two other thefts from autos; one at the Exxon station on Queens Chapel Road and Hamilton Street, the other at a station on Michigan Avenue in NE DC. A search of the area by MRPD officers and officers from surrounding jurisdictions proved negative.

4300 block of 28th Place: At about 6:45 pm officers took a report of a residential burglary. The victim/resident told the officers that when he returned home from an errand he found his front door forced open and his watch missing from his coffee table. No evidence or witnesses could be located.

April 16th (early morning):

4200 block of 30th Street: At about 5:30 am officers took a report of a theft from auto. The victim/owner told the officers that sometime during the night someone entered her vehicle and stole a nylon duty belt she used for work as a special police officer. There was no damage to the vehicle or its locks, and no weapon was taken. A check of the area for evidence and/or witnesses was negative.

Community Shredding Day

Please mark you calendars for Saturday July 18th, 2009 for community shredding day. Priority One Shredding of Bowie, Maryland will provide free personal shredding services and secure document destruction from 8 am until 11am at the Bunker Hill Fire Station. Priority One Shredding is a leading provider of personal and business secure document destruction. Residents are welcome to watch their documents being destroyed, and once the shredding process is completed, the remains are locked in the mobile destruction unit until the paper is recycled. Priority One will also provide residents with a variety of identity theft prevention information free of charge. If you miss the community shredding day on July 18th, be sure to bring your bulk documents to National Night Out. Priority One will be onsite from 6-9 pm providing shredding services to residents again, free of charge .
