4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station): At about 9 am officers took a report of a stolen auto. The victim/owner told the officers that as she was pumping gas into the vehicle an individual described only as a skinny young black male jumped into her running vehicle and drove away in unknown direction. A check of the area for the victim’s vehicle proved negative. A lookout was broadcast to surrounding law enforcement agencies.
2300 block of Varnum Street: At about 10:45 pm officers stopped a vehicle for driving without its headlights on. Further investigation revealed that the driver had a suspended driver’s license and a passenger had an open arrest warrant for failing to appear in court on a traffic related charge. While searching both individuals incident to their arrest the driver was found to be in possession of a small quantity of cocaine. Both men were delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. The driver was charged for the original traffic violation, driving on a suspended license, possession of CDS and possession of CDS paraphernalia.
