Police Report: April 2-5

April 2nd:

4100 block of 32nd Street: At about 5:10 am officers took a report of a theft from auto. The officers found that someone stole two cells phones from inside two separate vehicles both of which were owned by the same person. The owner told the officers that he believes he left the vehicles unlocked. No evidence was obtained.

4600 block of 27th Street: At about 4:10 pm officers responded for an attempted suicide. The officers discovered that a 37 year old man attempted suicide by cutting his wrists. He was transported by fire/rescue personal to the hospital for treatment.

3300 block of Bunker Hill Road: At about 10:30 pm officers on duty at Joe’s Movement Emporium were notified that a fight between several patrons broke out inside. Private security removed the individuals involved from inside and another fight began outside in front of the building. The officers were able to quell the disturbance and disperse the participants and onlookers. There were no serious injuries and no arrests made.

April 3rd:

3200 block of Chillum Road: At about 1:10 am officers responded for the report of an assault in progress. When the officers arrived they discovered a man suffering from multiple lacerations, contusions and abrasions. He told the officers that he and a friend were walking back from the 7-11 when 4-5 unknown black males approached them and began assaulting them. The suspects fled on foot after the assault. Because of the extent of the victim’s injuries and level of intoxication the officers were unable to get further information. Fire/rescue personnel transported him to the hospital for treatment of his non life threatening injuries.

3700 block of 34th Street: At about 10:20 pm officer responded for a motor vehicle collision. The driver of the striking vehicle was found to be highly intoxicated. He was arrested for DUI and his vehicle was.

April 4th:

35th & Perry Streets: At about 3:50 am officers responded for the report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival they discovered a man fitting the complainant’s description sitting in a black Cadillac. The man was highly intoxicated and had passed out behind the wheel. He was arrested for DUI and his vehicle was impounded.

2900 block of Arundel Road: At about 5:30 am officers took a report of a stolen vehicle. The victim told the officers that he parked his 2001 Dodge Stratus (MD Tag A215978) in front of his apartment on around 10 pm Saturday night. When he returned for his car this morning he discovered that it had been stolen. No evidence was recovered.

3600 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 11:30 pm officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. They later determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested for DUI and his vehicle impounded.

April 5th:

3200 block of Upshur Street: At about 10:20 am officers took a theft report. The victim told the officers that someone entered his home and stole an extension cord and a motorized chair battery for his motorized wheel chair that was parked on the sidewalk. No evidence was recovered and there were no signs of forced entry.

3200 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 1:30 pm officers issued a criminal citation to a man for consuming an alcoholic beverage in public.

One Municipal Place: At about 2 pm officers issued a criminal citation to a man for consuming an alcoholic beverage in public.

3300 block of Buchanan Street: At about 5:45 pm officers took a report of a vandalism to auto. The victim/owner showed the officers where someone broke the passenger window on her 1987 Ford Ranger truck. No evidence was recovered.

3200 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 10 pm officers issued a criminal citation to a man who was seen drinking an alcoholic beverage inside of a parked vehicle (in front of the police station!).

I received this earlier today courtesy of CPL Jim Flynn of the Bladensburg Police Department: For those of you who have a vehicle that has a remote entry device, you may also have a handy burglar/emergency alarm that you probably don’t think about. Most of these remote entry devices have a panic button that activates your vehicle’s security alarm system. Test it. It will activate from almost anywhere inside your house and will keep honking and flashing the lights until either your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the remote entry fob. It works if your vehicle is parked in your driveway or garage.
