Police Report: November 11-13

November 11th:

3100 block of Upshur Street: At about 9:45 am officers took a theft from auto report. The victim told the officers that sometime between 9:30 pm on the 10th and the time of his call to police someone broke the left rear vent window of his Honda Accord, entered the car and stole his Pioneer radio.

2300 block of Arundel Road: At about 5 pm officers investigated a hit and run collision. The victim told the officers that he heard what sounded like a collision and went outside to investigate. He discovered that his vehicle had been hit by a second vehicle which failed to remain at the scene.

3500 block of 37th Street: At about 5:45 officers took a report of a residential burglary. The victim told the officers that sometime between 2 pm and 5:30 pm someone forced open the front door to her residence, entered, and stole two laptop computers.

November 12th:

3800 block of 34th Street: At about 8 pm officers issued a man a criminal citation for possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage.

3200 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 6:55 pm officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failure to appear in court. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. His vehicle was impounded for safekeeping.

3200 block of Queenstown Drive: At about 9 pm officers stopped two men who they observed drinking alcoholic beverages in public. Further investigation revealed that one of them had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. Both men were issued criminal citations for the alcohol violation.

November 13th:

3200 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 8 pm officers took a report of a strong arm robbery. The victim told the officers that as he was walking along Rhode Island Avenue towards the traffic circle he was approached by two men in a white Ford pickup truck. The two men got out of the truck, engaged the victim in a brief conversation and then struck him repeatedly knocking him to the ground. The two then stole several items of the victim’s personal property and cash and fled the area in the truck. A canvass of the area for the suspects and their truck proved negative. PGPD robbery detectives responded to the scene to assume a follow-up investigation.

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: At about 8:15 pm officers patrolling the area with a LPR received a hit on a 2009 Toyota Camry. The hit indicated that the owner had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court. The officers stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver/owner on the warrant. He was delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

Most of these remote entry devices have a panic button that activates your vehicle’s security alarm system. Test it. It will activate from almost anywhere inside your house and will keep honking and flashing the lights until either your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the remote entry fob.
