Police Report: October 29-31

Friday October 29th:

4100 block of 31st Street & 4000 block of 33rd Street: At about 8:15 am officers took two reports of thefts from auto. Both victims told the officers that sometime during the previous night someone broke into their car and stole several items of personal property. No evidence or witnesses to the crime were located.

3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 7:40 pm officers issued a man a criminal citation for urinating in public.

Saturday October 30th:

2700 block of Upshur Street: At about 12:15 pm officers patrolling the area with a license plate reader received an alert that a passing vehicle had been reported stolen. The officers verified that the vehicle, a blue VW Jetta, had been reported stolen to PGPD and initiated a traffic stop. Both the driver and a passenger were arrested, charged with felony theft and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. The vehicle was impounded for safekeeping and the owner was notified of the recovery.

2900 block of Allison Street: At about 12:25 pm officers took a report of a theft from auto. The victim told the officers that she heard her car alarm activate and when she looked outside she saw a black male (NFD) tampering with her car. She and her husband ran out to confront the man but before they could get a good look at him he got into a purple van with unknown Maryland tags and fled the area. When the victim examined the interior of her car she discovered that several items of her personal property had been stolen. No evidence was recovered and no additional witnesses could be located.

Sunday October 31st:

4100 block of 32nd Street: At about 10:25 am officers documented a motor vehicle collision. Their investigation revealed that a woman backed out of her driveway and collided with a second vehicle that was illegally parked. The owner of the illegally parked vehicle could not be located.

2700 block of Allison Street: At about 7:50 pm officers on bicycle patrol stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver did not have a valid license. He was issued four traffic citations and his vehicle was impounded for safekeeping.

Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description). A check of the area for the stolen car proved negative and a lookout for it was gi
