Police Report: August 28-30

Friday August 28th:

4100 block of 29th Street: At about 4:20 p.m. officers responded for the report of a residential burglary. The victim/resident told the officers that she returned home from work to find several items missing from her residence. Further investigation revealed that the victim’s son was questioned about having a friend over earlier. The son advised that his friend did not commit the crime and that they were sitting on the porch talking about sports. There were no signs of forced entry into the home. A canvass of the area revealed that the son and his friend were the only people seen in the area. An investigation will continue.

Saturday August 29th:

2900 block of Arundel Road: At about 12:55 a.m. officers on patrol observed an individual attempting to remove the license plate from a Ford van. When the individual saw the officers he fled on foot leaving the tag behind. The officers were able to catch and detain him until the vehicle’s owner verified that he did not know the man and did not give him permission to remove the license plate. The individual was arrested and charged with tampering with a motor vehicle and misdemeanor theft. He was delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: At about 2:10 p.m. officers responded for a domestic disturbance. During their investigation the officers noticed that the male participant in the argument was in possession of a marijuana cigarette. He was arrested, charged with CDS possession and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

One Municipal Place: At about 11:05 pm officers stopped a man who was screaming obscenities at the patrons of the bus terminal. When the officers tried to get him calmed down they smelled the distinct odor of PCP on his person. During questioning the man tried to run from the officers and when they caught up to him he turned and started to fight. After a brief tussle the officers were able to get him under control and under arrest. He was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assault on a police officer. He was delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.
