4200 block of Russell Avenue: Burglary/assault – 10:05 pm. The victim told officers that as she was taking a shower she was accosted by an unknown man wearing a black ski mask. The man grabbed her hand and pulled her from the shower and demanded to know “where the money was.” She told him it was in her purse in the living room. The man forced her into the living room at the same time the victim’s boyfriend returned from the store. Upon seeing the boyfriend come in the front door the suspect fled the apartment out a living room window. With the assistance of Hyattsville Police officers a perimeter was established around the residence. PGPD K-9 responded and tracked the suspect to the 4200 block of Eastern Avenue. An extensive search of the apartments in that block was conducted with negative results. Fire/rescue personnel responded to the scene and treated the victim for minor injuries. Nothing was taken from the victim’s apartment and processing for latent fingerprint evidence proved negative. PGPD detectives have assumed a follow-up investigation.
