Police Report: March 18-20

March 18th:

3249 Rhode Island Avenue: Warrant service – 11am. A man came into the police station to surrender on an open arrest warrant. Officers confirmed that he had an open warrant through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on charges of robbery, 2nd degree assault and theft. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Criminal citation – 9:30 pm. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage.

3500 block of Windom Road: Warrant service – 10 pm. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving without a license. The officers issued the man several traffic citations and arrested him on the warrant. He was delivered to the custody of DOC in Upper Marlboro. His vehicle was impounded for safekeeping.

March 19th:

4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station): Theft – 11:45 am. The victim told officers that while putting air in her tires someone stole her purse from inside her vehicle. No witnesses to the crime were identified and no evidence was recovered.

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road (Advance Auto): Theft – 2:25 pm. A store clerk reported that a man described as a white male in his fifties came into the store, stole an oil filter cap and a container of tire shine worth a total of $13.00, and fled the store on foot in an unknown direction.

4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station): Criminal citation – 3:10 pm. Officers issued a woman a criminal citation for urinating in public.

3400 block of Eastern Avenue: Assault – 3:10 pm. A woman told officers that a former boyfriend threatened to kill her after she broke off a relationship with him. She said that prior to making the threats the man assaulted her physically but that she did not suffer any treatable injury. A search of the area for her assailant proved negative. The woman was advised of her protective order options with a District Court Commissioner.

March 20th:

3100 block of Varnum Street: Auto theft – 10 am. The owner of a 1995 Plymouth van (MD tag # 8AD9842) reported that sometime prior to his call to police someone stole his vehicle. A canvass of the area for evidence/witnesses proved negative.

32nd and Taylor Streets: Warrant service – 8:55 pm. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on a charge of 2nd degree assault. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. His vehicle was impounded for safekeeping.

These kiosks can contain concealed computers that attempt to extract data such as contact information, photos, and videos from connected devices, unbeknownst to the users. Additionally, malicious or compromised charging stations can expose devices to the risk of a malware infection. Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description). A check of the area for the stolen car proved negative and a lookout for it was gi
