March 18:
3200 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 8 pm officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver was found to have an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failure to arrear for a court hearing. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville without incident.
One Municipal Place: At about 8:45 pm officers on patrol observed an individual urinating in public. He was issued a criminal citation for the offense and sent on his way without further incident.
March 19 (early morning):
2300 block of Varnum Street (7-11): At about 4:45 am officers responded for the report of a misdemeanor theft. The store clerk told the officers that a black male entered the store, went directly behind the sales counter and stole approximately twenty packs of Newport cigarettes. The individual ran out of the store and fled on foot in an unknown direction. The clerk described the thief as a black male, approximately 55 years of age, 5’11” tall, 180 lbs., wearing a brown jacket and blue jeans. The officers canvassed the area for the individual with negative results.
