Police Report: June 22-23

Monday June 22nd:

3200 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 7:30 am officers took a report of a motor vehicle theft. The victim/owner told the officers that sometime during the overnight hours person(s) unknown stole his gold 2000 Dodge van with Maryland tags 31291M7. A check of the area for witnesses and/or evidence proved negative.

3300 block of Buchanan Street: At about 8:25 am officers took a report of a vandalism to auto. The victim/owner of a white 1996 Chrysler Concorde told the officers that sometime during the overnight hours person(s) unknown damaged the car’s driver side door. No evidence was found that would indicate those responsible were able to get into the car and nothing was discovered missing. No additional evidence or witnesses were found.

2500 block of Queens Chapel Road: At about 10:10 am officers stopped a vehicle that was not displaying any registration plates. An MVA/NCIC check revealed that the vehicle was not reported stolen and not currently registered. The driver was issued several traffic citations and the vehicle was impounded.

2500 block of Allison Street: At about 7:30 pm officers took a report of a missing/runaway juvenile. The officers interviewed the juvenile’s parents and determined that the child ran away from home because he did not want to obey his parents’ house rules. The child was last seen at home on June 21st at about 10:30 pm. The juvenile’s information and description was entered into the NCIC missing persons database.

Tuesday June 23rd (early morning):

2300 block of Varnum Street (7-11): At about 12:30 am officers responded for a theft that had just occurred. Their investigation revealed that three individuals entered the store and stole approximately $18.00 worth of merchandise. All three then fled the store on foot in an unknown direction. The individuals were described as:
Suspect #1: Black male with dreadlocks, about 18-20 years of age wearing a white t-shirt.
Suspect #2: Black male, about 18-20 years of age wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.Suspect #3: No description given.

I received this earlier today courtesy of CPL Jim Flynn of the Bladensburg Police Department: For those of you who have a vehicle that has a remote entry device, you may also have a handy burglar/emergency alarm that you probably don’t think about. Most of these remote entry devices have a panic button that activates your vehicle’s security alarm system. Test it. It will activate from almost anywhere inside your house and will keep honking and flashing the lights until either your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the remote entry fob. It works if your vehicle is parked in your driveway or garage.
