3300 block of Otis Street : At about 10 am officers took a report of a stolen tag . The victim told the officers that sometime during the previous night someone stole the front tag (Maryland 68063CA) off her Isuzu Rodeo. No evidence/witnesses were located. 2900 block of Shepherd Street : At about 3:30 pm officers took a report of a residential burglary . The victim/resident to the officers that he returned home to discover that someone forced open the front door lock to his residence and stole approximately $3,500 worth of electronics from inside. No evidence/witnesses were located.

3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue : At about 10:30 pm officers responded for the report of a pedestrian struck . The officers’ investigation revealed that a woman was struck by a vehicle as she traversed the crosswalk from the bus terminal to the bus stop on the southbound side of Rhode Island Avenue. She sustained very minor injuries but was transported by fire/rescue personnel at her request to the hospital for a thorough examination. The officers’ investigation determined that no charges were warranted against the driver. 4000 block of 31st Street : At about 11:50 pm officers were contacted by DC police who informed them that a vehicle reported stolen from the 4100 block of 31st Street on June 17th was recovered in the 2600 block of Myrtle Avenue, NE. The vehicle was in good condition, no arrests were made and the victim/owner was notified of the recovery. Residents are reminded that all consumer fireworks are illegal in Prince George’s County. In an effort to reduce fireworks related violations and injuries the County has announced a fireworks amnesty program. Residents can contact the Fire/Emergency Medical Services Department Operations Center at (301) 583-2200 and a department member will visit a home or business and remove fireworks. There will be no arrests or fines. The amnesty program is in effect until July 14th.

3300 block of Buchannan Street : At about 10:20 am officers took a report of a vandalism to auto . The victim/owner showed the officers where someone had broken the windshield and the right front passenger window of her 2007 Honda Civic. The officers could not locate any evidence/witnesses to the crime. 3700 block of 34th Street : At about 1:40 pm officers on patrol saw three juveniles walking along the block. Two of the juveniles had bicycles with them. When the juveniles saw the officers the two with the bikes dropped the bikes and fled the area on foot. The officers circled the area looking for the three and eventually stopped them back on 34th Street with the bikes in tow. The officers interviewed the three and two of them admitted that they had stolen the bikes from a nearby residence. All three were arrested, charged with theft and released to the custody of their parents pending juvenile court action. The bikes were returned to their rightful owners. 3300 block of Buchannan

3200 block of Rhode Island Avenue (Thrifty Car Rental) : At about 8:15 am officers took a report of stolen license plates . The owner told the officers that sometime between 6 pm on June 22nd and 8:15 am today someone stole the license plates off a 2003 Ford F150 truck that was parked on the lot. The tags were Maryland 96V044. No evidence/witnesses were identified. 3200 block of Varnum Street : At about 5:45 pm officers received information from an anonymous citizen that a man who had an open arrest warrant was at a house in the block. The officers confirmed the existence of the warrant (second degree assault) through the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office prior to their arrival in the area. When the officers arrived the man fled on foot but was apprehended after a brief chase. He was taken into custody and delivered to the custody of DOC in Upper Marlboro without further incident.

June 18th : 3700 block of Wells Avenue : At about 7:30 pm officers took a report of a stolen license plate . The victim told the officers that sometime between 3 pm and 7:30 pm someone stole the rear tag off his vehicle that was parked in his driveway. No evidence or witnesses could be located. June 19th : 3200 block of Arundel Road : At about 12:15 am officers took a report of a missing person . The reporting person told the officers that her husband left for work as normal on June 18th and did not return home as scheduled. The husband’s personal information was entered into the NCIC missing person’s database. At about 9:45 am officers received information that the husband had returned home and was safe and in good health. He had been a guest of the MPD for driving without a license. His information was removed from NCIC. 3300 block of Chillum Road (7-11) : At about 5:15 am officers responded for a commercial armed robbery . The store clerk told the officers that two black mal

4600 block of 27th Street : At about 4:15 pm officers responded to a complaint of a man rolling around in the grass acting erratically. The officers located the man in question and determined that he was under the influence of suspected PCP . He was taken into custody and transported to the hospital to be evaluated by medical personnel. Russell Avenue & 28th Place : At about 10:15 pm officers on patrol observed a man urinating in public . He was issued a criminal citation for the violation. 4000 block of 31st Street : At about 11:30 pm officers took a report of a stolen auto . The victim/owner told the officers that sometime between 9 pm on June 16th and 9 am on June 17th someone stole her gray 2001 Chevrolet Prism (Maryland tags 9DND67). The officers were unable to locate any evidence or witnesses to the theft. 3300 block of Chillum Road : At about 11:40 pm officers on patrol observed a man consuming an alcoholic beverage in public . He was issued a criminal citation for the

June 15th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 4:30 pm officers took a report of a citizen robbery . The victim told the officers that he was urinating behind a dumpster when he was approached by two black males one of whom brandished a silver revolver. The victim was told to empty his pockets which he did. The two suspects took the victim’s pocket contents, including his car keys, and fled the area in his red 2006 Mercedes Benz C230 (DC tag CR5285). The victim also said that a gray Nissan Maxima was following his vehicle as it left the parking lot. PGPD robbery detectives responded to the scene to assume the follow-up investigation. 3000 block of Allison Street : At about 12:20 pm officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver was in possession of crack cocaine. He was arrested, charged with CDS possession and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 4500 block of 30th Street : At about 8 am officers took a report of a theft from auto . The victim showed the officers where sometime during the previous night someone broke into his 2000 Saturn and stole several items of his personal property that were inside. A canvass of the area for witnesses/evidence was negative. 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP Station) : At about 7:30 pm officers took a report of a theft from auto . The victim told the officers that she left her vehicle unlocked when she went inside the station to get gas. There were no witnesses to the crime and no evidence was found.

June 11th : 4500 block of 32nd Street : At about 9:50 am officers took a theft report. The victim told the officers that sometime between June 5th and June 7th someone stole a laptop computer. The victim was unsure of how to handle the incident thus the delay in reporting it to police. 3300 block of Rhode Island Avenue (Party Time) : At about 11:15 am officers responded to a reported theft in progress. Witnesses pointed out a man who was leaving the store with merchandise he did not pay for. Officers stopped the man outside the store and found him in possession of the stolen merchandise. They also discovered that he had an open warrant through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court. He was arrested, and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road : At about 6:30 am officers took a report of a theft from auto . The victim/owner told the officers that sometime during the previous night someone broke out the back window of his 1997 Toyota Corolla and stole the car’s stereo. A canvass of the area failed to locate evidence or witnesses. 3200 block of Queenstown Drive : At about 5:20 pm officers took a report of a vandalism to auto . The victim/owner showed the officers where someone had broken the left rear vent window of her 1996 Nissan Maxima. Nothing was taken from the vehicle. A canvass of the area failed to locate evidence or witnesses. 4500 block of Eastern Avenue : At about 7:45 pm officers on patrol observed two individuals sitting inside a 2007 Cadillac STS drinking alcoholic beverages. Both were issued criminal citations for the violation. June 9th : 2500 block of Allison Street : At about 1 pm officers took a report of a citizen robbery . The victim told the officers and PGPD robbery detectives that she arrived to meet a client when she was approached by two black males. One of the men approached her from the front; the second came up behind her and placed her in a head lock. The second man demanded the keys to her gold 2005 Honda Accord (MD tags 9FA Y36). The victim complied and the two got into her car and fled the scene. The victim described her assailants as black males about 19-20 years of age. The first man was about 5’8” tall with shoulder length dreadlocks and was wearing a white t-shirt, long jean shorts, white socks and tennis shoes. The second man was about 5’10” tall, also had shoulder length dreadlocks and was wearing a white navy hat. The officers also discovered a white 2004 Chevrolet Express van that is believed to have been driven to the scene by the two suspects. A check of the vehicle’s registration

June 7th : 4300 block of Russell Avenue : At about 2:30 pm officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress. When the officers arrived they discovered that the door to one of the apartments had been kicked in and a bedroom inside the apartment had been ransacked. A witness described two possible suspects as black males, one of whom was wearing a red shirt and a white baseball cap; the second wearing a white shirt. A search of the area for those two was negative. June 8th : 3600 block of Perry Street : At about 6:45 am officers took a theft from auto report. The victim, who came to the police station to report the theft, told officers that someone forced entry into his truck and stole items of his personal property from inside the center console. 2300 block of Varnum Street (7-11) : At about 10:15 am officers took a theft report. The store clerk told the officers that two black males (no further description) walked into the store, removed several items from the display

3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue : At about 8:40 am officers issued two men criminal citations for consuming alcoholic beverages in a public place. 4200 block of Russell Avenue : At about 9:45 am officers on patrol observed a red Dodge Caravan with a damaged ignition and door locks. A check of the van through NCIC revealed that it had been reported stolen to the Prince George’s County Police on May 31st. The van was impounded for safekeeping and the owner was notified of the recovery. 3200 block of Varnum Street : At about 3 pm officers responded for the report of a domestic altercation . Their investigation revealed that a man and his nephew became involved in an argument that resulted in the nephew striking the uncle in the face and causing him serious injuries. The nephew was arrested, charged with assault and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. The uncle was transported to Prince George’s Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

June 3rd: Chillum Road & Buchanan Street : At about 7:40 am officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Subsequent investigation revealed that the driver had an open warrant through Prince George’s County for failure to appear in court on a charge of driving on a suspended license. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 2900 block of Queens Chapel Road : At about 11:40 am officers responded to a domestic dispute. Further investigation revealed that the male half of the dispute had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failure to appear in court on a charge of driving without a license. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. 3100 block of Chillum Road : At about 6:30 pm officers responded for the report of a robbery that had just occurred. Upon arrival the officers learned that three black males entered the business armed with handguns. They forced the busines

June 2nd : 2300 block of Varnum Street (7-11) : At about 10:40 pm officers responded for the report of a disorderly subject . When they arrived they learned that a man came into the store and began cursing out the employees. He then stole merchandise and started to damage various items in the store. The officers were able to locate and arrest him. He was charged with various crimes and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. June 3rd (early morning) : 3600 block of Oak Lane : At about 12:35 am officers patrolling the area observed where someone had spray painted graffiti on the building. The officers observed a black male, about 5’10 – 6’ tall wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans running from the area down the railroad tracks behind the 3300 block of Bladensburg Road towards DC. The officers were unable to stop this individual for questioning. Photographs of the graffiti were sent to the PGPD Gang Unit for review. The Gang Unit responded that the graffiti was not done

4500 block of 32nd Street/3100 block of Arundel Road : between 11:05 and 11:30 am officers took a report of two citizen robberies . The victim of the first robbery told the officers that three black males in a tan pickup truck pulled up beside him. The three got out of the truck assaulted him and stole his wallet. After the robbery they got back into the truck and fled the area. The victim could provide no additional details. Our second victim faced similar circumstances however this time one of the suspects displayed a handgun as he announced the robbery. The three stole a wallet and a cell phone from the second victim who was able to give a more detailed description of the truck and two of the three suspects. He described the truck as a late model Chevrolet pickup, possibly a Silverado, tan or light beige in color with an extended cab and a cap covering the truck’s bed. He described one suspect as a black male, 15-18 years of age, 5’8” tall, 140 lbs., wearing a striped polo shirt and

May 28th : 2400 block of Arundel Road : At about 4:45 am officers responded for the report of two individuals breaking into a vehicle . When the officers arrived they stopped and detained two men who fit the description of the thieves. Further investigation revealed that these two did in fact attempt to break into the vehicle with the intent of stealing an IPod. They were arrested, charged accordingly and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville. May 29th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue : At about 2:45 pm officers received a call for a theft from auto at the BP Gas station. The victim told the officers that she was pumping gas and left her purse in the car with the window rolled down. She said she looked away for a second and when she looked back her purse was gone. She stated that she did not see anyone take her purse, however she did observed a black male about 16-20 years of age wearing a black hooded jacket walking near her vehicle just prior to the purse being taken. On or after June 1st, 2010 a speed camera will be put in place in the 3700 block of southbound Rhode Island Avenue . This camera will assist the police department in enforcing the 25 mph speed limit southbound on Rhode Island Avenue between 38th Street and 34th Street. The camera will be operational from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. Effective immediately violations recorded by this camera will result in the violator receiving a notice of violation. On or after June 1st, 2010 a speed camera will be put in place in the 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road (near the intersection of Buchanan Street). This camera will assist the police department in enforcing the 35 mph speed limit northbound on Queens Chapel Road between 25th Street and Chillum Road. The camera will be in operation from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. Effective immediately violations recorded by this camera will result in the violator receiving a notice of violation.
