Police Report: August 3-4

August 3rd:

Nothing significant to report.

August 4th:

3200 block of Rhode Island Avenue: At about 7:20 am officers stopped a vehicle because the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. Further investigation revealed that the driver had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failure to pay child support.  His driver’s license was suspended for the same reason. He was issued several State traffic citations, arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

2800 block of Upshur Street: At about 8:30 am officers took a death report. A 72 year old man was found deceased inside his residence. According to relatives and his personal physician the man suffered from an assortment of medical conditions that contributed to his death from natural causes.

2400 block of Arundel Road: At about 9:30 pm officers stopped a suspicious man for a field interview. During the interview the officers discovered that the man had an open arrest warrant through Prince George’s County for failing to appear in court on a CDS possession charge. He was arrested on the warrant and delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: At about 11:15 pm MRPD officers were called to assist Queenstown Apartments security officers with a subject they had stopped for drinking in public. The MRPD officers discovered that the man was in possession of a crack pipe. He was issued a criminal citation for possession of narcotics paraphernalia and sent on his way.

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: At about 11:30 pm officers issued a man a criminal citation for drinking an alcoholic beverage in a public place.

I received this earlier today courtesy of CPL Jim Flynn of the Bladensburg Police Department: For those of you who have a vehicle that has a remote entry device, you may also have a handy burglar/emergency alarm that you probably don’t think about. Most of these remote entry devices have a panic button that activates your vehicle’s security alarm system. Test it. It will activate from almost anywhere inside your house and will keep honking and flashing the lights until either your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the remote entry fob. It works if your vehicle is parked in your driveway or garage. So, the next time you come home for the night and start to put your keys away think of this: Put your car keys beside your bed when you retire for the night.
