4000 block of 35th Street: At about 7 am officers responded for the report of a stolen vehicle. The owner told the officers that at about 6:45 am he went out and started his 2006 Chevy Trailblazer with Maryland tags 77170CC and left it running with the keys in the ignition while he went back into his residence. He came back out about five minutes later to find that the vehicle had been stolen. The vehicle was entered into the NCIC stolen vehicle database and the owner was issued a state citation for unattended motor vehicle.
3300 block of Buchanan Street: At about 3:15 pm an MRPD parking enforcement officer cited and impounded a vehicle that had been previously marked for 48-hour towing because it was displaying expired DC registration plates.
2300 block of Varnum Street (7-11): At about 1:10 am officers responded for the report of a theft. The store clerk told the officers that two individuals entered the store and walked behind the sales counter. One individual held open a bag while the second individual filled the bag with various items including cigarettes, over-the-counter medicine and lottery tickets. Both individuals then fled the store on foot to what the clerk believed was a waiting vehicle. The store surveillance system captured pictures of the individuals and a follow-up investigation will be conducted to try and determine their identities.
