Police Report: December 9

2900 block of Allison Street: At about 7 am officers responded for the report of a male individual looking into a woman’s apartment window. The woman advised communications that she witnessed a black male looking at her through one of her apartment windows. She said that he went to another window where he tried to get the window open to gain entry into the apartment. She was able to provide a detailed description of the man and hide in her bathroom until police arrived. When the officers arrived on the scene they found the man outside the victim’s apartment window exactly where she said he would be. When the man saw the officers he attempted to flee on foot but was caught immediately. He was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted burglary, trespassing, possession of CDS paraphernalia and stalking. He was delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville.

One Municipal Place: At about 10 pm officers received a call for a man down. The officers arrived along with ambulance personnel and located a male individual who was highly intoxicated and in possession of an open container of alcohol. The man was asked if he was OK medically and if he required any medical attention. He made a non-verbal response that he did not require medical attention. When the officers asked the man to leave the area he became disorderly and verbally abusive towards the officers and refused to leave. All attempts to get the man to calm down and leave the area peacefully failed and the officers moved to place him under arrest. He became violent and resisted the officers, at one point striking an officer in the chest with a closed fist. The officers were able to wrestle him to the ground and place him under arrest and in handcuffs. He was taken by ambulance to Washington Adventist Hospital for examination where he was evaluated by medical personnel and released to the officers’ custody. He was delivered to the custody of DOC in Upper Marlboro and charged with possession of alcohol in a public place, disorderly conduct, resisting a lawful arrest and assault on a police officer.

Crime Prevention Tip: Car Alarms

I received this earlier today courtesy of CPL Jim Flynn of the Bladensburg Police Department: For those of you who have a vehicle that has a remote entry device, you may also have a handy burglar/emergency alarm that you probably don’t think about. Most of these remote entry devices have a panic button that activates your vehicle’s security alarm system. Test it. It will activate from almost anywhere inside your house and will keep honking and flashing the lights until either your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the remote entry fob. It works if your vehicle is parked in your driveway or garage. So, the next time you come home for the night and start to put your keys away think of this: Put your car keys beside your bed when you retire for the night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone tries to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, within a few se...
