Police Report: January 24-26

January 24th:

3200 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Theft from auto - 8:50 am. The victim/owner told the officers that sometime between 3:00 pm and 11:00 pm on January 23rd someone stole the two side mirrors off his 2002 Chevrolet Van.

Upshur Street & Russell Avenue: Motor vehicle collision - 10:25 am. Officers stood by while the drivers of two vehicles involved in a minor collision exchanged personal and insurance information. Officers also completed a Maryland state collision report.

3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Traffic stop/protective order arrest - 8:20 pm. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that there was an MVA pick up order on the license plates and the man driving had a suspended license. The officers also learned that the driver and his female passenger had an active protection order against one other. The driver was issued the appropriate traffic citations and both individuals were arrested for violation of the protective order. The two were delivered to the custody of DOC in Hyattsville and the vehicle was impounded.

January 25th:

2700 block of Allison Street: Urinating in public - 2:30 am. Officers on patrol issued a man a criminal citation for urinating in public.

4300 block of Russell Avenue: Vehicle impound - 10:30 am. Code enforcement officers impounded a vehicle displaying expired license plates.

2400 block of Chillum Road: Traffic stop/vehicle impound - 9:45 pm. Officers stopped a vehicle for minor traffic violations. Further investigation revealed that the driver did not have a valid driver’s license. He was issued several traffic citations and his vehicle was impounded.

January 26th (early morning):

3100 block of Bunker Hill Road: Arson – 3 am. Officers responded for the report of a fire on the porch of a private residence. When the officers arrived the fire had already been extinguished by the homeowner. Investigators from the Prince Georges County Fire Marshall’s office responded to the scene and determined that the fire was intentionally set. Fire investigators are investigating this incident to determine if there is any connection to the arson fire in the 4000 block of 32nd Street on January 23rd.

These kiosks can contain concealed computers that attempt to extract data such as contact information, photos, and videos from connected devices, unbeknownst to the users. Additionally, malicious or compromised charging stations can expose devices to the risk of a malware infection. Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description). A check of the area for the stolen car proved negative and a lookout for it was gi
