Police Report: January 7-9

January 7th:

Other than the citizen armed robbery previously reported there were no significant incidents.

January 8th:

4600 block of 27th Street: Vehicle impound – 2 am. Officers received a call from a man who said that someone had stolen his vehicle and it was last seen in the Queens Manor apartment complex. Officers canvassed the area and located the vehicle which had been involved in a crash. The vehicle’s air bags had been deployed and there was front end damage. There was no evidence on the scene that the vehicle had been stolen. Since the complainant called from his home in Silver Spring, Montgomery County police went by his house to notify him that his vehicle had been recovered. MCP officers told MRPD officers that when they interviewed the complainant the saw that he had injuries to face consistent with those caused by air bag deployment in a auto collision. The vehicle was impounded for safekeeping and further investigation.

4200 block of 34th Street: Theft from auto – 10:30 am. The victim reported that sometime during the previous night someone stole the front tag off of her vehicle. Maryland tag 3FDW42.

3800 block of 33rd Street: Recovered stolen auto – 4:10 pm. DC police notified MRPD that their officers were following a stolen vehicle into Mount Rainier. MRPD officers located the vehicle parked in front of a driveway in the 3800 block of 33rd Street. No arrests were made and the vehicle was impounded.

January 9th:

4100 block of Rainier Avenue: Recovered property – 11:22 am. A resident called to have officers come by and take custody of a handgun believed to have been left behind by a former tenant. Officers retrieved a non-lethal air soft gun.

3300 block of Chillum Road: Trespassing – 2 pm. Officers issued a man a criminal citation for trespassing.

4600 block of 29th Street: Stolen auto – 2:25 pm. The victim reported that her 1998 Dodge Caravan (Maryland tags 23451M5) had been stolen sometime during the previous night.

3200 block of Chillum Road: Citizen armed robbery – 6:10 pm. The victim was walking home from the West Hyattsville Metro Station when he was approached by three black males armed with knives. The three demanded the victim’s valuables and he surrendered his money, jacket and cell phone. The three then fled the area in an unseen direction. PGPD robbery detectives responded to take over the follow-up investigation.

These kiosks can contain concealed computers that attempt to extract data such as contact information, photos, and videos from connected devices, unbeknownst to the users. Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description). A check of the area for the stolen car proved negative and a lookout for it was gi
